I’m really enjoying these ‘Aimee and Teddy’comics, so stay tuned for more.
So the whole story with Christian missionaries trying to kick us out is this. In June Greg tells the missionaries that we’re moving out at the end of August and they write back and say “That’s cool, don’t throw any of the furniture away.” Then in mid July he get’s another email telling us to get out by August 1st so volunteers can live here. Then they change it to August 15th because it’s not cool to give someone two weeks to move out. Additionally they claim to have to have no idea when we are moving and are “soooooo sorryyyyyy” for the inconvenience. When Greg explains that we’re leaving on the 26th and that was the original agreement they tell us we have no legal ground to stand on as we are not the official leasers. They threaten to evict us and scold Greg for burning bridges. As a side note, all research has shown that 1) They probably couldn’t evict us as that is only the landlord’s right and 2) The process of eviction in Japan is extremely drawn out and can take up to a year. So basically when they told us we had no legal rights they were lying and trying to bully us which I’m pretty sure is not something Jesus would do. Greg says we’re not leaving till the 26th and they don’t reply for several days. Then he get’s an email that says god found them alternative housing for their volunteers, cus you know, god’s a real estate agent.
